New in-store engagement company Swarm Mobile just raised $1M from a very interesting set of investors. The system works by offering free WiFi to customers, who are then presented with an opening gateway page that can lead them to other things, offer them information about specials, deals and more. Sounds like they’re gearing up for a larger A - round very soon, and they aim to be in 1,000 stores by the end of the year. I’d guess the likes of JiWire might consider this “their space” depending on how they go about working with retailers who use their service. The engagement numbers look very positive (30% of people who connect to the WiFi then connect to Swarm…). One to watch.
